COMFORT FOOD RECIPES FOR WINTER

Ahhhh, finally refresing Spring is here.
So, we're going to bring you some of Grandma's wonderful Spring recipes for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Desserts. Enjoy.

recipe Recipe: Chocolate Bourbon Balls
Taste of Home

Looking for a tasty no-bake dessert? This recipe for bourbon balls brings together the flavors of bourbon, pecans and dark chocolate for the perfect bite.

There are so many great dishes packed with flavor that come from Kentucky. Hot brown and creamy pimiento cheese dip are certainly high on my list of favorites. But the tiny treats that receive the top spot? Bourbon balls.

Bourbon balls are a boozy dessert that combines the warm flavors of bourbon and pecans for the perfect bite. And while they might seem tricky to make, the mixture comes together easily—you just need to plan ahead a bit so everything has time to set up. I love to make a big batch during the holiday season to share with others, but this recipe can certainly be made any time of the year (hello, Kentucky Derby recipes!) And even better? You won’t have to think about turning on your oven for these no-bake chocolate desserts.
Recipe by Molly Allen
    Ingredients:
  • 1-1/4 cups finely chopped pecans, divided
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3-3/4 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1 pound dark chocolate candy coating, melted

  • Preparation Instructions:
  • Combine 1 cup pecans and bourbon; let stand, covered, for 8 hours or overnight.
  • Cream butter and confectioners' sugar, adding 1/4 cup at a time, until crumbly; stir in pecan mixture. Refrigerate, covered, until firm enough to shape, about 45 minutes. Shape into 1-in. balls; place on waxed paper-lined baking sheets. Refrigerate until firm, about 1 hour.
  • Dip into chocolate coating; allow excess to drip off. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup pecans. Let stand until set.

  • Servings: 4 dozen
