SERVICE SUCKS!!:
Elitegroup Computer Systems
We purchased a main board from this particular manufacturer. We had several problems with the board malfunctioning. After many, many unanswered e-mails to the company Tech Support requesting either drivers or information on correcting our problems, we finally gave up and purchased a new Main Board from Abit Corporation. Their Support was TERRIFIC!! Judge for yourself, however we don't recommend ELITEGROUP COMPUTER SYSTEM PRODUCTS!!

For generations the Apaches resisted white colonization of their homeland in the Southwest (presently New Mexico and Arizona) by both Spaniards and North Americans. The last dictionary that Noah Webster wrote contained 70,000 words and their meanings. He wrote it with no assistance and by hand, typewriters not being around at the time. After his death his family sold the right to publish to G&C Merriam and Co.

Talk About Dumb.... ARE WE COMMUNICATING??
Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 500 employees and has the following statistics:

  • 29 have been accused of spousal abuse
  • 7 have been arrested for fraud
  • 19 have been accused of writing bad checks
  • 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
  • 3 have done time for assault
  • 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
  • 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
  • 8 have been arrested for shoplifting
  • 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
  • 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year
Can you guess which organization this is?
It's the 535 members of the United States Congress. The same group that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us in line.

 EXPERIENCE THE GREAT OUTDOORS

Outdoor Adventure: Snodgrass Hunting & Fishing Adventures
Clarks Mills, Pa.:
A 250 to 270 B & C trophy bull Elk is possible. We hunted late season and saw several thousand Elk. Seven hunters limited out in three days. I fully expect this to repeat itself each year.

We have both lower elevation hunts and mountain hunts. Most areas can be accessed with a 4-wheel drive vehicle. The late season hunts are more of an open prairie hunt. You get close in a vehicle and put a stalk on by foot. Late season you can easily be hunting herds of Elk with a dozen to several hundred Elk.

Outdoor Tip: Spotting Wildlife During Bad Weather
You're not likely to see many animals out in the elements during heavy rains or a bad storm. Like us, they generally will seek shelter. However, just before and after a storm, there is usually a lot of activity as different critters amass food. If you do see animals out feeding during a storm, that's a pretty good indication that it's going to be inclement for at least a couple of days. Until next time: Be Safe ~ Be Happy!!

 GNOMES' NEWS and VIEWS

Article Submitted by: J. Valdez(Coyote) Raton, New Mexico

Sorry there are not more 'drug problems' like this.
I had a drug problem when I was a child and teenager.
I was "drug" to church on Sunday morning.
I was "drug" to church on Sunday night.
I was "drug" to church on Wednesday night.
I was "drug" to Sunday School every week, and
I was "drug" to Vacation Bible School.
I was "drug" to the family devotion to read the Bible and pray.
I was also "drug" to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents.

Those "drugs" are still in my veins, and they affect my behavior in everything I do, say, and think. They are stronger than cocaine, crack, or heroin.

If more children had this "drug" problem, America would certainly be a better place!

Subject: Social security hmm...

Perhaps we were asking the wrong questions in this past election year. Our Senators/Congressmen do not pay into Social Security, and, therefore they do not collect from it. Social Security benefits were not suitable for them. They felt they should have a special plan.

Many years ago they voted in their benefit plan. In more recent years, no congress person has felt the need to change it. After all, it is a great plan. For all practical purposes, their plan works like this:

When they retire no matter how long they have been in office, they continue to draw their same pay until they die, except it may be increased from time to time by the cost-of-living adjustments.

For example, former Senator Bill Bradley (New Jersey) and his wife may be expected to draw $7,900,000.00 over an average life span, with Mrs. Bradley drawing $275,000.00 during the last year of her life. Their cost for this excellent plan is "0", nada, zilch. This little perk they voted in for the themselves is free to them.

You and I pick up the tab for this plan. Our tax dollars at work! Social Security, which you and I pay into every payday for our own retirement, with an equal amount paid in by our employer, we can expect to receive an average of $1,000 per month. We would have to collect our benefits for 68 years and 1 month to equal the Bradley's benefits.

Imagine for a moment that you could structure a retirement plan so desirable a retirement plan that worked so well, that Railroad Employees, Postal Workers, and others who were not in the plan would clamor to be included. This is how good Social Security could be, if only one small change was made. That change would be to jerk the Golden Fleece Retirement Plan out from under the Senators & Congressmen. Put them into the Social Security plan with the rest of us. Watch how fast they fix it!!!

If enough people receive this message maybe a seed will be planted, and maybe good changes will evolve.

Don't forget, our girl, Hillary Rodham Clinton, now comes under this Congressional Retirement Plan. Talking about the Clinton's, it's common knowledge that, in order for her to establish NYS residency, they purchased a million + house in upscale Chappaqua, NY. Makes sense. Now, they are entitled to Secret Service protection for life. Still makes sense. Here is where it becomes interesting. A residency had to be built in order to house the Secret Service agents. The Clinton's now charge the Secret Service rent for the use of said residence and that rent is just about equal to their mortgage payment, meaning that we, the tax payers, are paying the Clinton's mortgage, and it's all perfectly legal. Plus his office expense in Harlem.

What you need to know about endometriosis:
Endometriosis is a condition when the endometrium, the tissue that lines the uterus, grows outside the uterus or in the reproductive organs (ovaries, Fallopian tubes) or in the intestines, rectum, or bladder instead. The symptoms range from mild to severe and women may experience everything from painful periods to infertility. Although a doctor may suspect endometriosis, the only true diagnosis can be made from a laporoscopy. There isn't a surefire cure, but most of the time the symptoms can be treated successfully. The good news is that women who have minimal or mild endometriosis usually have a 65 percent chance of getting pregnant within two years of completing therapy.

 GNOMES' GRUB SHOPPE

Cooking Magazine of the Month Club

Can you leave heavily spiced food out longer?
Many spices, or their active chemical ingredients, can kill bacteria or inhibit their growth. Four common flavorings - onion, garlic, oregano, and allspice - killed or inhibited every one of up to 29 common food-borne bacteria for which they were tested.

Southwestern Egg Rolls:

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 8 cups fresh baby spinach
  • 1 cup frozen corn
  • 1 15-oz. can black beans, drained
  • 1 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 Tbsp. fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 6 oz. Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
  • Egg roll wrappers
  • Vegetable oil
Saute onions in olive oil until tender. Add next 6 ingredients and cook until spinach wilts. Remove from heat and stir in cheese. Place 1/4 cup of mixture on each egg roll wrapper, fold in sides and dampen edges with a small amount of water so they stick together. Put enough oil in a saucepan to cover egg rolls and heat to a high temperature (If the oil starts smoking it is too hot). Cook rolls until golden brown and allow to drain on paper towels. Serve with salsa or ranch dressing, or combine equal amounts of salsa and ranch dressing for a different taste.

SUGAR-GLAZED WALNUTS:
Look out--these crunchy, sweet nuts are addictive. You'll have to ration them out to your family (and to yourself, for that matter) or they will all be gone in a hurry.

  • 1/2 c butter
  • 1 c packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 lb walnut halves (about 4 c)
Place butter in 1-qt casserole; microwave on high 1 minute or until melted. Stir in brown sugar and cinnamon; microwave on high 2 minutes (melt well).

Add nuts and mix to coat; microwave on high 3-5 minutes. Mix well, then spread onto waxed paper to cool.

Caleries per serving: "Who Cares!! Enjoy!!

So until next time, REMEMBER:  He who angers you, controls you....
