 MOUNTAIN NOTES

The Mountaingnome Welcome to the first issue of The MountainGnome. We're gonna bring ya some of the purrtiest dadgum places and pictures you Prospectors ever saw. MountainGnome was established to bring the Outdoors and all it's activities-beauty & fun, right to your email inbox. Our goal is to bring a Gold Mine of information to you, on the Great Outdoors! Perhaps you'd like to visit the Mountain Mans cabin in the Colorado Rockies. Here is a view from my cabin window and my inspiration when writing. What a heavenly vision in the crisp mountain air!

MountainGnome would love to print any articles or interesting stories you might have encountered. Just email them to The MountainGnome.

Well, with the recent snows in Colorado, as you can tell by viewing my cabin, skiing should be getting off to a really great start. We've got a few more storms on the horizon, so make those reservations and head to the slopes!! Note: When driving through snow country...no matter where...please slow down and you'll arrive sooner and safely.

 THE SNOW SCENE

Hey! Looking to do some great skiing or maybe just meet some great folks and take pictures?!! Why not try Steamboat Springs, Colorado for a Winter Carnival of festivities and fun?! The Steamboat Chamber Resort is your first stop for information! Visit the slopes through the eyes of the mountain cam. The facilities and activities are endless in Steamboat! One of the superb lodging facilities is a place called the Rabbit Ears Motel, warm and friendly are the key words here! Now, sit back and close your eyes, envision a sleigh ride through the beautiful country side...a delightful dinner afterwards...these visions and more are a reality in Steamboat Spring, Colorado!!

 OUTDOORS SCENE

X-TREME Outfitters is a owner-operated outfitting business specializing in the pursuit of trophy class animals in the states of Utah and Nevada. Now if ya wanna hunt in some great areas--these folks are the cats meow(or elks bugle)! Visit their website for the various types of hunts and availability. You'll find some real nice, down home folks at X-Treme Outfitters!

Now if ya got the gumption..let's go do some ice fishin'!! The Williams Fork Reservoir, located in Grand County, Colorado--has some great salmon fishing. It gets pretty cold out on the ice, so come prepared!! By the way, if the fish ain't bitin'--you might wanna hop on over to one of the local towns and warm up a bit. There are some really nice ski towns around here with great lodging and restaurants. Oh yeah, the folks are darned nice too.

 NEWS

Cell phones invade wilderness. This article was really interesting. Now cell phones to me are a really terrific item to have if ya get lost or have an accident in the back country. The whole idea behind camping and hiking and all the great activities in the outdoors, is to get away from the hustle and bustle and stress! Imagine this ... the backwoods filled with people talking to their stock broker, accountant, lawyer, hairdresser etc... TERRIFIC...now you just brought all your stress with you! Even the wildlife is getting nervous! When ya travel to the Great Outdoors, put a tag on that cell phone..."EMERGENCY USE ONLY"...your enjoyment will be enhanced greatly.
