Leaves are beginning to change colors in Steamboat Springs. There's gold in them hills, along with some brilliant red - gold and red leaves, that is.

Autumn, and the prime time to enjoy Steamboat Springs' colorful fall foliage, is fast approaching. While Mother Nature always keeps everyone guessing as to when the most spectacular colors will appear, the third week in September is usually the best time to see Steamboat's fall colors. Steamboat's Yampa Valley is heavily populated with aspen trees and various ground vegetation, such as scrub oak, making it one of the best areas for color watching in Colorado. Visitors can view Steamboat's colorful leaves in several ways. The area has several scenic drives for those who would like to tour by car, and there are numerous hiking and biking paths for color hunters to choose from. Local outfitters also offer some unique ways to see the colors. Arial views from a glider plane or hot air balloon allow visitors to view large areas of trees at the same time, as well as gain a different perspective. Visitors can also get a close-up view of the leaves by taking a color tour on horseback and riding off like a cowboy into the aspens.

What to do about cradle cap:
Cradle cap looks like a very bad case of dandruff -- you'll see scaly reddish patches on your newborn's scalp. It's an outbreak of seborrheic dermatitis, which can also appear on the face and around the diaper in older babies. It's thought to be a result of hormonal changes that stimulate secretions from the oil glands. Although the condition can look unsightly, it's nothing to worry about, and it's very common. The best strategy to gently remove scales is to rub a mild vegetable oil into your baby's scalp and wash daily with a gentle baby shampoo. It will eventually go away on its own, but consult a pediatrician if the condition persists, worsens, or spreads.
